School will be back soon, so make sure you squeeze out the last few drops of sunshine before the winter rain returns. Lots of summer festivities are over, and friends in other parts of the country have already started sharing their first-day-of-school photos. But that won’t stop us!
I’ve got some ideas to help you savor the end of summer and gain the reputation of the best mom in town! Finish your summer strong with these awesome activities…
- Movies at the Mural – There are 2 of these Seattle Center outdoor movies left! Dreamgirls will be playing on August 18th and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be shown on August 25th. Bring a blanket and hang out under the stars.
- Farmers Markets! There are lots of these to explore, and making the rounds is a fun way to support small local businesses. Check out Fremont Sunday Market on Sundays (all year round), the Lake City Farmers Market on Thursdays, The Phinney Neighborhood Farmers Market on Fridays, and the Shoreline Farmers Market on Saturdays. A simple search for Seattle Farmers Markets will show you a bunch more.
- Wild Waves is still open weekdays through Labor Day. Why not make the trip and have a really memorable outing close to home?
- Make some S’mores in your own back yard. Get a fire going in your pit, light up some coals in your grill, or heck – roast a marshmallow or two over your stove! Summer isn’t complete without a hot marshmallow. Honestly I’ve even gotten by with a quick zap in the microwave. There’s something about gooey marshmallows that warms my heart and really says summer.
Whatever you do to eek out a few more fun times, be sure to slow down and acknowledge the moments of joy in your life. You have 18 summers with your kiddos. Make the most of them!
