The Generations Portrait Project

The Generations Portrait Project

Capture Your Legacy

This project began in early 2020, and continues today. At the beginning, it was the start of a new decade, and many of us were keenly aware of how quickly time was passing by. I noticed the vast difference between modern culture and the way things were during my formative years. With kids in high school at the time, the difference in perspective between generations was very apparent. There was rebellion all around me, so I wanted to capture the loving connection that’s possible, and even crucial, between people of different generations.

The Covid-19 pandemic pushed pause on our efforts to bring extended families together. But when the worst had passed, we brought the project back. It was more important than ever to honor and cherish that family connection we had gone without for so long! The experience showed me that it’s never too soon – or too late – to create portraits that speak to your legacy. Who knows what the future holds?

Now, we invite you to take part in this project and document the legacy of your family. Past participants have been featured on our blog & social media, shared through photography competitions, and displayed on our studio walls. As the project grows, we’ll explore new opportunities to share the message with the world.

Celebrate the connection you have with the people who will carry your love and light into the future. The relationships in your life are a beautiful masterpiece, waiting to be captured and honored as art in your home.

“To have nice professional photos that are worthy of the wall means the world to me.

I had a photo session with my son and we loved the experience. Lara and her husband are an amazing team. They are warm and welcoming, funny, professional and knowledgeable. Knowing that my son loves to dance, Lara had a dance off with him that was one to remember! Lara is the best!”

What’s the purpose of this project?

Our Generations Portrait Project aims to connect and unite family members, despite their obvious differences. We want to provide a positive experience that brings families closer together, and create shining examples of the importance of that loving connection. This project is meant to honor the beauty of diverse relationships through portraits.

Why is it in black and white?

Black and white brings out the sentiment in a portrait. By eliminating color, your story lives within the boundaries of its emotional essence. The limited range of gray, black and white enhances the importance of beautiful expressions, posing, and lighting, allowing your fashion and style choices take a back seat to the relationships you cherish the most. Black and white is timeless. It transforms an ordinary moment into a striking piece of art.
