Capturing life’s miracles: A cancer survivor’s journey to motherhood
Edith is a miracle baby girl.
Erin, her mother, is a breast cancer survivor. Like so many out there fighting the disease, she faced it with grit and determination, but also hope for the future. Before she underwent cancer treatment, Erin had some of her eggs frozen so one day she might be able to start a family. After a grueling fight she finally got the news her cancer was in remission, and she was finally ready to try.
She and her husband Justin would have just one chance to try for a baby, and it worked! When she asked me to photograph their newborn photography session, I couldn’t say no. Her resiliency and tenacity to beat cancer and welcome this gorgeous bundle of joy into the world was a story that had to be captured in print.
This is my passion. It’s in more than just capturing a beautiful image of this family. It’s about weaving a person’s story into a visual narrative where each click of the shutter becomes a brushstroke on the canvas of a person’s life. Creating memories that grow and expand as their family does. I’m honored Erin and Justin are allowing me the opportunity to capture their baby’s first year so they can create an album to preserve this moment in their lives.

Almost everyone knows someone affected by cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about this devastating disease and to encourage early detection. Early diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment, so it’s important for women to be proactive about their health. Regular self-exams and mammograms are essential tools for identifying any potential signs of breast cancer. By taking these steps, women can empower themselves and increase their chances of a positive outcome.
