If every photo is worth a thousand words, easily 900 of those words are about what’s happening outside of the frame. Behind The Reflector tells that story. Art – The World’s Greatest Photographer’s Assistant – shows you how Lara creates her work. He discusses the gear, the lights, the weather, the traffic, and all the contorted positions it takes to get great photos.
“It’s kind of like cinema verite but for photography. I’m sure there’s a fancy French term for it, but I do not know what that term is,” says Art, who finds it weird to quote himself in the third person while typing.

Australian Shepherd Portrait Session
Hey all, it’s Art here with a behind-the-scenes video of a recent photo shoot with Brooke & Bently, two wonderful Australian Shepherd dogs. This was an on-location photo session at Pine Ridge Park in Edmonds, Washington, just a few towns to the North of Seattle. The session was in the morning on May 25th, 2018.…

Pine Ridge Park, Edmonds, WA
Lara Grauer Photography, Scouting Photo Shoot Locations in Edmonds It was a downright balmy 70 degrees and sunny here in Seattle today, a perfect day for us to get out of the studio where we have been busy with our recent “Seattle Headshots” campaign. Nice to be outdoors scouting a location for an upcoming photo…

Behind The Reflector: Headshot Photo Session With Author Tiffany Pitts
This Monday morning finds us in the studio with author Tiffany Pitts, author of Double Blind and Wizzy Wig. As you can see, our studio remodel is (mostly) complete. Oh Yeah, About That Studio…
Here’s the entire back-of-the-napkin nutshell plan, vastly oversimplified to protect the sanity of those involved: • One gray wall, all the rest white • A white ceiling • A really nice floor • Some nice lights. We want clients to come in and be totally comfortable in the space and not give it a second…

Summer Family Beach Photography
Yesterday we were out at one of our favorite outdoor photoshoot locations, the Richmond Beach Saltwater Park in Shoreline, Washington. We finally got a break from the heat and the wildfire smoke and had a gorgeous day for some relaxed family photography out on Puget Sound. The shot above is a panorama photo of one…

Baby Its Cold Outside!
Back in December, we did a senior photo session at The Golf Club at Newcastle, just outside of Seattle, WA. I love hitting the links just as much as the next person but boy was it cold out there, about 36 degrees, cloudy, with mist and occasional rain. This shot was a special client request,…

Seattle Photographer Lara Grauer – Setting Up The Shot
Here’s an on-location behind-the-scenes photo of Seattle Photographer Lara Grauer standing on a countertop, arranging items for a product shot. It was one of those moments that I just couldn’t pass up. Lara was standing on our client’s marble-topped kitchen island organizing roses, eggs, fancy napkins, and assorted ingredients for an overhead top-down shot. The…

Dogapalooza – Riker, Buddy, Dottie & Gretchen
Hey it’s Art here again posting from behind the reflector. Last Friday we found ourselves in Barrington, IL at Riker the dog’s place for a rowdy shoot with Riker, his brother Buddy, and his close chums Dottie and Gretchen. Since I’ve been working with Lara, I think the most dogs I’ve helped out…
