Portrait Of Bucket The Certified Therapy Dog
For the uninitiated, the chiweenie is a recent breed mix that originated in the United States within the past 20 years as a family oriented companion dog. In 2009, the International Designer Canine Association recognized and began recording registration for the breed. They’re a small, indoor dog that’s very intelligent and easy to train.
When he was living in Seattle, Bucket spent every weekend visiting the residents at Queen Anne Manor, a local memory care retirement community. His visits were highly anticipated and much loved by the residents, and Bucket became an important part of their care. When Bucket and his mom moved out of town, Bucket’s mom got in touch with us to commission a photo shoot to produce a hardcover collection of photographs to gift to the residents as a memento of his time spent working there.
For more information on therapy dogs, what it takes for your dog to become one, or for having a therapy dog visit your group or organization, we recommend the AKC Therapy Dog Program. Earning an AKC Therapy Dog title builds on the skills taught in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy® and Canine Good Citizen® programs which creates a sound and friendly temperament needed by a successful therapy dog.
